Charcot Foot Reconstruction

With the increased incidence of Diabetes and Obesity in South Florida, we are seeing more patients with Charcot Joint or Charcot Foot at Certified Foot and Ankle Specialists. Charcot Joint, also known as neurogenic osteoarthropathy is seen in patients who suffer from peripheral neuropathy or loss of sensation in their feet.

Achilles Tendinitis

Do you have pain in the back of your heel or ankle? Achilles tendinitis is one of the more common conditions we see as foot and ankls specialists in South Florida. Usually, these patients complain of aching or sharp pain that is worse with activity. There might also be a bump or some swelling in the back of the heel or ankle. Equinus, or tightness of the calf muscles and Achilles tendon is almost always associated with this condition

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis, or inflammation of the plantar fascia is the most common condition I treat as a foot and ankle specialist in South Florida. At Certified Foot and Ankle Specialists, we see multiple patients every day who suffer from Plantar Fasciitis. Usually, these patients complain of pain which can be severe in the bottom of their foot, near the arch or the heel. The pain is usually worse while standing up after having been off their feet for a period of time, such as in the morning. There are many causes of plantar fasciitis, including increased activity or wearing improper shoes.

Heel Pain Part 2

Fortunately, whatever the cause, heel pain usually resolves with conservative treatment or without the need for surgery. However, in approximately 10% of the cases, outpatient surgery is needed which generally requires little time off your feet. So, if you have heel pain there is no need to suffer. Make an appointment now and get back to your activities without pain!
